都市住宅技術研究所は、UR都市機構の調査研究・技術開発部門として、まちづくり・すまいづくりに関連するソフトおよびハード分野の研究を行っています。
研究所開設以来、半世紀に及ぶ時代の変化に伴い研究テーマも幾度か大きく転換を遂げてきました。これまでの蓄積を活かしながら良好な都市と住宅のストック形成に寄与するため、独自の研究開発とともに、民間企業等との共同研究にも取り組んでいます。

The Urban & Housing Technology Research Institute (UHTRI), a survey research and technical development department of the Urban Renaissance Agency (UR), engages in research of equipment and facilities as well as the services, knowledge, and information associated to town planning and home making. Our research topics have gone through great transformations several times with the changes that have occurred in the past fifty years.
While making use of our legacy and to contribute in forming housing stocks and a favorable city, we have been making efforts in our own original research and development as well as in cooperative projects with private establishments.

社会背景と研究分野

研究所における研究テーマは、昭和30年代では集合住宅の空間や住まい方の提案・住宅生産の量産化技術から始まり、やがて住宅の量的充足に伴って住宅の質や性能の向上・多様なライフスタイルへの対応へと移行し、その後、超高層住宅研究、高齢者向け住宅研究や顧客情報の蓄積と分析へと変化してきました。
21世紀を迎えた現在、持続可能な社会づくりが大きな課題とされ、これまでに建設された住宅ストック活用、少子・高齢化するコミュニティの活性化、さらなる省資源・省エネルギー社会への対応が急務となっています。
いま都市住宅技術研究所では、CO2削減を初めとする環境対応技術、住宅ストックの再生を図る技術、少子高齢化社会における居住ニーズの分析把握とその対応などを中心的な研究テーマとして取り組んでいます。

In the late 1950s to early 1960s our research institute was involved in topics regarding proposals on the space and life in complex housing as well as mass production techniques of homes. As the number of houses became plentiful, we gradually shifted our research to issues on improving the quality and functionality of the house, and to respond to diverse lifestyles. Subsequently our focus changed to research on super high-rise housing and residences for the elderly, and accumulating and analyzing information on clients. Now in the 21st century, a sustainable society is a major concern where we must urgently find measures to make good use of the housing stocks, to invigorate the aging communities with low fertility rates, and to create a society that conserves natural resources and energy. The UHTRI is now focused on undertaking research topics regarding environmentally responsive technologies including the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions, technologies on recycling housing stock, and analysis, understanding and measures on housing needs in an aging society
